I read in the aper today something that at first I thought must be a joke. It was not. A developer wants to put up a new apartment building in an area of Vancouver called Gas Town. Gas Town is a mix of drug addicts, Mentally challenged, rich and poor and everything in between. Since before the Olympics Gas Town has been going through changes. Boutique shops, fine dining, the movie industry and some really fine lofts and Condos ,nestled in the framework of drugs, prostitution and a high crime rate. So back to my story, in the article it said protesters disagreed with putting the apartment complex up because it would disrupt the drug dealers. This could result in more gangland murders. I cannot make these things up. If your not familiar with how Vancouver fights illegal acts of crime let me share some insight with you. We provide a lace for drug addicts to bring their illegal drugs and with supervision they are allowed to shoot up. Paid for by my tax dollars. Qualified medical! people are on hand in case someone overdoses. Lives have been saved. We provide a free needle exchange program. This cuts down on dirty needle diseases and I am sure has saved lives. This also, is paid for with our tax dollars. Now a new program has been initiated. We provide crack pipes for those that use cocaine. Paid for by our tax dollars.
