As we reported yesterday, a Michigan based company named 1800LAWFIRM announced they were suing her over the 5 dollar rubber bracelets she created to raise money for the Japanese earthquake and tsunami victims. Her rep issed a statement today saying quote, "This misguided lawsuit is without merit and unfortunately takes attention away from the kind deeds of the fans around the world who are supporting the people of Japan." THe statement goes on to explain that each $5 donation supports the disaster relief, and no profit is being made on shipping costs. In addition, Lady Gaga has personally pledged her own funds to this cause and continues to support the victims of the disaster. The company! claims however that Gaga was pocketing the 3.99 for shipping on each bracelet and also tacked on an unneccessary sales tax as well. The lawsuit seeks refunds for those who bought the wristbands. Funny how we don't hear any of the bracelet purchasers complaining. I'm one of them, and am happy to have donated 5 bucks plus tax and shipping to the people of Japan. Seriously we hope Gaga tweets her own response to these people because we know it'll be rich!
